Wekfest's Pacific Northwest Stop Filled the Seattle Convention Center for One Day Only
Roughly 300 hand-picked builds and 20 vendors packed the Arch building on July 26 as Wekfest's touring show returned to Seattle — the same week a separate, first-of-its-kind live RWB double build drew its own crowd across town.
Wekfest's touring stance and JDM show returned to Seattle on Sunday, July 26, taking over the Arch building at the Seattle Convention Center — the glass-domed structure at 705 Pike Street that most locals still know by its old name, the Washington State Convention Center — for a single day, 1 to 6 p.m., open to all ages. Roughly 300 individually exhibited vehicles and 20 vendors filled the floor, continuing the same jury-based selection process Wekfest runs at every stop on its calendar: builds are screened for finish, completeness, and intent before they're allowed on the floor at all, with no trophy handed out for loudest exhaust or biggest wing.
"Seattle is one of the tour's most distinctive stops — and today, you'll see why," the Seattle Convention Center wrote in announcing the show's return, calling it the Pacific Northwest's premier automotive showcase. The vendor row leaned into the region's own aftermarket scene — parts manufacturers, detailing brands, apparel labels, and creative studios based in the Pacific Northwest got space alongside the national circuit's usual sponsors.
The same week gave Seattle's build scene a second, unrelated draw: from July 23 through 26, Rauh-Welt Begriff founder Akira "Nakai-San" Nakai ran what organizers billed as the first free live double RWB build in the Pacific Northwest at The Shop Seattle, transforming a Porsche 997 and a 993 into RWB widebody builds over four days, with a Friday documentary premiere and a Saturday Cars & Coffee cruise-in alongside it. It wasn't part of Wekfest's own program, but the overlap made for a genuinely busy week to be car-obsessed in Seattle.
Wekfest itself has come a long way from its start as a small parking-garage show in San Francisco in 2008; nearly two decades later it runs a full US touring circuit plus international stops in Japan, screening builds with the same jury process at every one. The tour's next US stops land September 6 in Chicago and September 20 in Los Angeles, continuing a 2026 calendar that's already run through San Jose, Seattle, and multiple stops in Japan.
