Mickey Thompson Just Revived Its Classic Wheel as a Modern Forged Monoblock
The MT Classic Forged blends the original wheel's vintage look with 6061-T6 forged construction, arriving at retailers in early 2026.
Mickey Thompson has revived its original Classic wheel design as the MT Classic Forged, a modern monoblock forged wheel engineered from 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum. The pitch is straightforward: keep the vintage attitude of the original design while building it with modern forging techniques for lower weight, better corrosion resistance, and more durability than a vintage-style cast wheel could offer.
The line began reaching authorized Mickey Thompson retailers in early 2026. It's part of a broader pattern in the forged-wheel space right now — GISA, for instance, has expanded its own forged monoblock offerings in parallel, with finishes ranging from brushed brown and titanium to gloss black machined, in sizes from 18 to 23 inches, each precision-machined from a single billet rather than cast.
For a market that's long split between vintage-style cast wheels (cheap, heavy, nostalgic) and modern forged wheels (light, expensive, clinical-looking), a forged wheel deliberately styled after a 1960s original is a fairly direct attempt to close that gap rather than pick a side.
